Another Classic I Haven't Seen Yet #8 - North By Northwest (1959)
|
I’ve known this movie was an inspiration to Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner for a good 4 years now, and I guess I was hoping for something more Don Draper-ey. Draper takes this movie’s idea of an ad man on the run and internalizes it. This movie was pretty straightforward in comparison.
That’s not to say it wasn’t good. Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint were great, the suspense was there, but my only gripe is it seems to have needed to wrap up before the ending was fully realized.
Overall though, it’s a pretty good early thriller that I’ll probably need to watch again without the Mad Men tinted goggles on. Lol.
